We recommend recording live on mobile or tablet. The buttons are built for touch and one thumb.
Build your squad
Before you start the match, set up the Squad tab for the season.
For each player you fill in:
- First and last name
- Jersey number
- Position (Wing, Backcourt, Line, Goalkeeper or Multi-position player)
You can add players one at a time, paste a whole list from a text file or spreadsheet, or import the squad from handball.no if the club is in Norway. Planr then fetches name, jersey number and position from the public squad list. If you coach more than one team, you can switch between them from the «Teams» button at the top.
Create a match
Go to the Matches tab and select «New match». You can create:
- Single match: fill in opponent, date, match length, tournament and which players are taking part.
- Paste several: paste a list with opponent and date (and optionally time and result) to create many matches at once.
- Import from handball.no (Norwegian clubs): fetch league matches and create them directly in Planr.
- Import from Profixio: paste the cup tournament link, select your team, and import the matches directly into Planr.
Once the match is created, you find it in the match list. It shows as planned until you tap Start match.
Register a result without events
Need only the score, not scorers and other numbers? Open the planned match and choose Register result on the start screen. Enter the final score. Half-time is optional. The match is marked finished as Result only.
Players on the squad count as having played, without goals and other numbers. A result-only match counts towards the 3-match limit on Stats Basic and on Hub without the Match statistics add-on.
To add statistics later, open the summary and choose Reopen to add stats. That is not the same as recording the whole match afterwards with Event time.
Live recording
Open the match from the match list on match day. You get the start screen with match info and the squad, before you tap Start match. Shot statistics is on that screen. There you turn on Goalkeeper zones (where in the goal saves and goals go in) and Shot zones (court map with 8 zones). Open the settings to choose which events get a shot zone: Own goals, Miss+ / Miss−, Conceded and Saves. Choices are remembered for the next match.
Share match is a share icon at the top of the start screen. Once the match is underway, you find it under More in the bottom menu (Stats Pro, Planr Pro, or Hub with the Match statistics add-on). When sharing is on, you can copy a match link that others can open (view only). Before kick-off they see match info and the squad. When the match is live or finished, they see the stats. Choose Events only or Full share. On Planr with a team calendar, shared matches are also clickable in the calendar before kick-off. On Stats Basic and Hub without the add-on, sharing is locked, with a link to upgrade. Check that the squad is correct and tap Start match when you are ready.
During recording, the screen is built for one thumb:
- A bottom menu switches between Attack and Defense, with the match clock in the middle and play/pause next to it. The match starts on Defense.
- On iPad and desktop there is also room for a Live stats panel on the right side, with a real-time summary and event log. You open it from «More» in the bottom menu.
- Each time you switch to Attack (including automatic switch after a goal against) a possession is registered. It is not registered at kick-off, only when you actually switch to Attack. You can correct it in the event list like other events.
The buttons available:
Attack Goal, Assist, Drew 7m, Missed 7m, Miss +, Miss −
Technical errors (under Attack) Pass/catch, Steps, Line crossing, Offensive foul, Illegal screen, Other technical
Defense Steal, Free throw, Plus, Minus, Sanction, 7m against
Goalkeeper Saves and Goals against split by Wing, Short, Long, Counter and 7m.
If Shot zones is enabled, Long/Short/Wing is replaced by a court map (8 zones) for the event types you chose. For goals, saves and goals against, fast break and 7m stay separate buttons.
If Goalkeeper zones is enabled, after a save or goal against the goalkeeper gets an optional step: Select goal zone (where in the goal the shot went, 9 zones). You can skip it.
For each event you pick the type first (for example «Goal» or «Steal»), and then which player it applies to.
If you tap the wrong thing, open the event list and tap Edit event. See the Correcting events section below.
Correcting events
It is now easier to correct, delete and change events. In the event list you tap Edit event. There you can:
- change the player
- change the time (period and clock)
- delete the event
Period and match markers cannot be changed. During the match you correct events directly in the list, and the change applies at once.
After the match has been recorded, open the summary and choose Reopen match from the menu (⋯). Then you correct events the same way. Mark the match as finished again when you are done.
Recording afterwards
If you did not record live, it is easier to enter the stats afterwards with the exact time on each event.
- Planned match: Open the match, tap Start match, and pause the clock. Before each event, choose Event time (period and clock), then register the type and player. The events then get the right time, not «now».
- Completed match: Open the match summary, choose Reopen match from the menu (⋯), and do the same. Mark the match as finished again when you are done.
Numbers entered afterwards count the same as live-recorded numbers in season totals.
After the match
When the match has ended you get a summary with the tabs Events, Court players and Goalkeepers. If you recorded shot zones, there is also a Shot zones tab. Here you see all registered events chronologically and tables per player. If goalkeeper zones were recorded, a heatmap with saves / attempts per zone is also shown under Goalkeepers.
Events cannot be changed directly in the summary. Choose Reopen match from the menu (⋯) and correct them as described under Correcting events. You can also edit match details like opponent, date and tournament.
